1. ROYALTIES PAID + NEWS FROM THE FLOATING HOME OFFICE
Greetings fellow authors and friends!
ROYALTIES – Royalties were paid via Paypal on the 5th business day of this month, which was Tuesday, 8/7/18. Royalties are paid on the 5th business day of each month to authors whose unpaid royalties were $40 or more on the last day of the previous month. You can check your author account RIGHT HERE. Once you’re in there, click on the Sales link at the top of that page. Read that entire page, and click on all the links on that page. Please remember that we can’t access your Paypal account for you. We can only send money to it. If you have questions about your Paypal account, please contact Paypal directly.

2. BIG 5-DAY AUTHOR COPY SALE – STOCK UP NOW, BEFORE THE PRINTER’S HOLIDAY RUSH!
Each year, the printer starts accumulating a backlog of printing jobs as the holiday shopping season gets underway. While that’s good news for publishers and authors, it’s bad news for last-minute shoppers. The pre-holiday shopping season gets into full swing in September so we recommend buying early if you plan to be selling or giving away books this holiday season.

3. A SCAMMER IS IMPERSONATING BOOKLOCKER ON THE PHONE!
An author has reported that a scammer is calling authors, claiming to be BookLocker. BookLocker NEVER gives our authors’ contact info. to anyone so they are obviously finding new book listings on Amazon, using a search engine to find those authors and, subsequently, each author’s contact info. There are websites now that even publish your cell phone number, as well as your home phone and address. Some even find relatives’ numbers online, and call them with an “urgent message” for the author, saying they “see potential” in the new book, and want to “help promote” it, etc., etc. It’s a scam! They convince innocent authors to pay that firm to do exactly what BookLocker (or any other publisher) has already done, promising to do a “better job,” and to “promote the book.” Sadly, the author will realize in a few weeks that they’re right back where they started, but thousands of dollars poorer. These scammers are targeting all new authors by all publishers.
Last week, Angela received two telemarketing calls on her cell phone from these types of firms and both named books she didn’t even write. We all got a chuckle out of that.
The scammer pretending to be BookLocker may try to upsell you on worthless marketing services, or may even try to convince you to republish your book all over again…which makes no sense whatsoever when they’re claiming to be BookLocker, right? Pretty dumb, huh?
BookLocker will never, EVER call you on the phone to try to sell you something. We detest telemarketers and spammers so, if someone does call you claiming to be us, please get the name of the company, the individual’s name, and their phone number, and send that info. to us.

Overdrive is the leading digital reading platform for more than 40,000 libraries and schools in 70 countries. According to Library Journal, “OverDrive is the King Kong of the public library ebook market.”
Overdrive, which only works with large publishers, “securely manages, enhances, protects, fulfills, and promotes their publishing clients’ ebooks.” The process is similar to other distributor arrangements. Having your ebook on Overdrive allows libraries and schools to purchase copies with limited distribution to their customers based on how many copies of the ebook they purchase from Overdrive. If they purchase one copy, only one of their customers can “check out” your ebook at a time. The more popular your book is, the more incentive libraries and schools have to purchase additional copies of your ebook(s).
How do authors make money on this service?
Each time a library orders a copy of your ebook, you earn royalties on that sale, just like any other retail/wholesale/distributor transaction.

Overdrive does not list non-English titles, nor do they list erotica.

Your ebook must already be available through BookLocker in epub and mobi formats (not just pdf). If your ebook is only in pdf format, please CONTACT US for a quote for epub/mobi formatting, conversion, and distribution.
BookLocker’s epub and mobi ebooks are also available through Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Apple, and Kobo.
NOTE: Effective 07/05/18, new books being published through BookLocker will be automatically listed with Overdrive as part of our regular epub/mobi distribution service, which is included in all publishing packages except D.I.Y. and color-interior.
